Key takeaways
- The tower is accessed through Sorcerous Sundries, not from an exterior door in the Upper City.
- The pale blue portal on Sorcerous Sundries’ first floor leads to the tower’s top floor. The other portals are decoys that eject the character who enters them.
- The tower contains two of Act Three’s most desirable magical items Markoheshkir and the Robe of the Weave.
- The middle floor is heavily trapped See Invisibility is strongly recommended for the vents, levers and arcane security mechanisms.
- The tower is the decisive location for the Lorroakan versus Dame Aylin confrontation.
- The tower’s final state depends heavily on whether Lorroakan, Dame Aylin, Rolan, Isobel and other characters survived earlier events.
About this guide
Spoiler warning: This guide covers major Act Three story decisions, the conclusion of Find the Nightsong, Lorroakan’s fate, Rolan’s possible future, the tower’s traps, and its unique equipment.
Overview
Ramazith’s Tower is a compact but unusually important Act Three location in Baldur’s Gate 3. It is the private magical tower of the wizard Lorroakan, built originally by the vanished wizard Ramazith Flamesinger. The tower is tied directly to Sorcerous Sundries, the Sorcerous Vault, the conclusion of Find the Nightsong, several companion and faction outcomes, and some of the game’s most valuable magical equipment.
The location is easy to misunderstand because it is not entered from the city streets. The tower is physically associated with the Upper City, but the player reaches it through a portal on the first floor of Sorcerous Sundries, a separate magical shop in the Lower City. Sorcerous Sundries itself, its shop floor, office and vault should not be treated as the tower’s ordinary interior. The tower proper consists of three accessible levels: the top floor, middle floor and bottom floor. The Sorcerous Vault is a connected storage area with its own layout and progression, rather than simply another tower floor.
Ramazith’s Tower proper
These floors contain Lorroakan’s audience area, the tower’s security systems, its balcony and external ring, and the two major protected items.
Sorcerous Sundries
Sorcerous Sundries is a separate Lower City location. It contains:
The shop sells scrolls, potions, books, equipment and other magical goods. Its shopkeeper depends on earlier choices and may be Lorroakan’s Projection, Rolan or Rolan’s Projection.
Sorcerous Vault
The Sorcerous Vault is a separate hidden storage location connected to both the shop and the tower. It stores rare books, spell scrolls, valuables and quest-related objects. It can be entered from Tolna’s office or from the tower’s Vault button, but its internal rooms, traps and puzzle doors should not be confused with the tower’s three main floors. Fast travel and access to camp are unavailable while the party is inside the vault.
---
Ramazith’s Tower was built more than a century before the events of the game by Ramazith Flamesinger, a famous wizard whose disappearance is only vaguely explained by material found in Sorcerous Sundries. Ownership eventually passed to Lorroakan, an Amnian wizard who used the tower and the associated magical business as bases for his research and pursuit of immortality.
Lorroakan’s interest in immortality is not academic. His plan centres on exploiting the immortality of Dame Aylin, the Nightsong, as a means of making himself effectively unaging. This makes the tower the final setting for a conflict that has been developing since Act Two.
The tower’s design reflects Lorroakan’s obsession with arcane control. Its upper rooms contain elaborate magical instruments and decorative bookshelves. The middle level is a defensive mechanism filled with invisible controls, poisonous vents and autonomous magical weapons. The lowest accessible level holds the artefacts Lorroakan values most.
---
Reaching the tower
The other portals are not alternate routes. They eject anyone who attempts to enter them. The correct portal transports the party to the tower’s top floor. The party can later return to Sorcerous Sundries through the same portal.
Reaching the tower: steps
- 01Enter Sorcerous Sundries in the Lower City.
- 02Go to the first floor.
- 03Speak with Lorroakan’s Projection if this is your first visit.
- 04Locate the four coloured portals.
- 05Enter the pale blue portal marked for Ramazith’s Tower.
Useful spells and abilities
See Invisibility
This is the most useful preparation for the tower. It reveals:
If the party lacks the spell or potion, an Elixir of See Invisibility can be found in a backpack on the tower’s middle-floor outer ring.
Movement spells
Movement spells make the tower’s vertical layout much easier to navigate:
The middle floor can be reached from balconies or by using floating furniture as a route downward. The bottom floor cannot be reached by simply jumping from the middle floor because an invisible barrier blocks that route.
Suggested skills

Suggested skills
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Arcana | for identifying and disabling the tower’s magical controls |
| Perception | for detecting trapped display cases and hidden mechanisms |
| Sleight of Hand | for disarming the trapped case and opening locked containers |
| Charisma or social skills | for the Lorroakan and Nightsong confrontation |
Top floor
The top floor is the arrival point from Sorcerous Sundries. It is a large circular chamber lined with shelves and filled with magical, alchemical and astronomical equipment. Most of the bookshelves and stacks are decorative and cannot be searched.
The floor is primarily an exploration and staging area. It contains the route to the middle floor, several display cases, a valuable potion and a number of containers with random rewards.
Portal to Sorcerous Sundries
The arrival portal is also the return route. It is the safest way to leave the tower before committing to the story confrontation.
Balconies
Several exits lead to a balcony around the tower. From these balconies, characters can use Misty Step, Fly or similar movement abilities to reach the outer area of the middle floor.
Floating furniture
Some furniture is suspended in the air. It can be used as a bridge to reach the middle-floor lever and other lower areas. If Lorroakan is alive, the furniture may be marked as restricted, meaning that jumping down can be treated as a crime.
Nightsong runic circle
A runic circle prepared for the Nightsong is present on the top floor. It is harmless to other characters but provides an early visual clue to Lorroakan’s intended use of Dame Aylin.
Display cases
The top floor contains several small and large display cases. Their contents can include random precious gems and rare potions. One large central case always contains a Potion of Supreme Healing.
Named entries: top floor
Most of the random gems, potions and valuables in the display cases are not fixed named items. Their exact contents may vary.
---
Middle floor
The middle floor is the tower’s security level. It has an indoor ring and an outdoor ring connected by stairs and openings. The area is filled with traps and magical security systems.
Four Arcane Cannons and multiple Cloudkill vents are distributed around the floor. Detecting these mechanisms requires an Arcana check rather than the more usual Perception check. The tower wiki records a DC 15 Arcana check for detection.
Cloudkill vents
The vents release poisonous Cloudkill. They are dangerous in confined spaces and can turn a movement route into a prolonged damage-over-time hazard. If you do not intend to loot every container, it is usually more efficient to identify the controls, avoid the vents and move directly towards the relevant Weave Buttons.
Arcane Cannons
The four Arcane Cannons are part of the tower’s automated defences. The Security button activates them. The Cleanup button activates the gas vents. Their controls are easy to miss without See Invisibility.
Outer ring
The outer ring can be reached by jumping through windows or by destroying a barricade. Two Mage Hands patrol the area and cast Create Water on green patches around the edge. The outer ring contains an alchemical herb patch and a Snakeskin Hat, but otherwise has little fixed treasure.
Weave Buttons
The Artillery control is on the outer ring and is labelled separately from the four main inner controls. The tower’s buttons are not all beneficial. Some are deliberate security controls and can make the floor more dangerous.

Safe exploration route
- 01Arrive on the top floor.
- 02Cast or activate See Invisibility.
- 03Reach the middle level using the floating furniture or a movement spell.
- 04Identify the invisible plaques and Weave Buttons.
- 05Disable or avoid the security systems before looting the area.
- 06Use the Below button to reach the bottom floor.
- 07Use the Vault button only when ready to enter the Sorcerous Vault, because the tower does not provide a return route from the vault’s starting room.
Weave Buttons: The five principal buttons are
| Button | Function |
|---|---|
| Below | Teleports the party member who presses it to the bottom floor |
| Cleanup | Activates the Cloudkill gas vents |
| Security | Activates the Arcane Cannons |
| Vault | Teleports the interacting party member to the Sorcerous Vault |
| Artillery | Fires a fireball from the top of the tower |
Bottom floor
The bottom floor is a restricted artefact chamber. It can be reached by pressing the Below Weave Button on the middle floor. Jumping down from the middle floor does not work because of an invisible barrier.
Each barrier has an invisible lever nearby. See Invisibility reveals the controls. Disabling a lever requires a DC 20 Arcana check. If the check fails, the associated Aspect of Athkatla statue attacks with Disintegrate. The character who fails is locked out of trying that lever again, so distribute the attempts carefully between capable party members.
Obtaining Markoheshkir and the Robe of the Weave
Markoheshkir is a legendary staff and one of the strongest spellcaster weapons in the game. Robe of the Weave is a powerful caster robe. Both are fixed rewards, not random drops.
Other bottom-floor loot
A trapped display case contains the High Security Vault nº1 Key, which is relevant to the Counting House. The case requires a DC 13 Perception check to detect and a DC 15 Sleight of Hand check to disarm.
The Mystery Door Key opens the door labelled “Ramazith” in the Sorcerous Vault. Another unlocked display case contains a Scroll of Circle of Death.
The Above Weave Button returns the party to the middle floor.

The tower’s main story event begins when the party first reaches the upper floor. A cutscene introduces Lorroakan and his retinue, including:
Lorroakan wants information about the Nightsong. The precise conversation depends on what happened to Dame Aylin in Act Two and on how the party approaches the discussion.
If Dame Aylin survived Act Two and is present at camp, informing her about Lorroakan causes her to travel to the tower. This begins the climactic version of Find the Nightsong.
Two arcane barriers protect
Obtaining Markoheshkir and the Robe of the Weave
- 01Bring See Invisibility or use another method that reveals invisible objects.
- 02Examine the area around the first arcane barrier.
- 03Identify the invisible lever.
- 04Use a character with a strong Arcana modifier.
- 05Disable the lever.
- 06Take the protected item.
- 07Repeat for the second barrier.
- 08If an attempt fails, do not keep using the same character on that lever.

Choosing a side
Supporting Dame Aylin
If the party sides with Dame Aylin, the tower becomes the site of a major battle against Lorroakan and his magical forces. Aylin and Isobel can become available as support for Gather Your Allies, provided their earlier conditions are satisfied.
If Rolan survived Acts One and Two and both of his siblings were rescued from Moonrise Towers Prison, he sides with the party. After Lorroakan’s defeat, Rolan can take over the tower and permit the party to loot its contents, apart from books and scrolls. The game’s behaviour allows the party to take spell scrolls despite this verbal restriction.
Supporting Lorroakan
If the party hands Dame Aylin over, Lorroakan offers 5,000 gold and his support in the final battle. This is a major moral and narrative choice rather than a simple shop transaction.
If the party later tells Isobel what happened, Isobel attempts to save Aylin. Depending on the sequence of events, Isobel’s corpse may later appear in the tower, carrying items including Jhannyl’s Gloves and Moon Devotion Robe.
Rolan’s outcome
Rolan’s presence and allegiance depend on his survival and on the party’s earlier actions. His siblings’ rescue is particularly important. If the party fails to save them, Rolan’s behaviour can change dramatically. If he takes control of the tower, later visits can include changes to the shop and tower personnel, including Rolan’s Projection.
---
Residents and tower staff
Not every entry is present in every playthrough. Lorroakan’s Projection and Rolan’s Projection are state-dependent alternatives associated primarily with Sorcerous Sundries rather than ordinary tower inhabitants.
Story-associated visitors
Dame Aylin and Isobel are not ordinary residents. Their presence depends on the Nightsong storyline and earlier survival conditions. Gale has special dialogue concerning Lorroakan’s ideas about immortality. Cal and Lia may become associated with the tower if Rolan survives and takes ownership.
Story-associated visitors
Creatures and security entities
The Aspects of Athkatla are not harmless statues. They are linked to the bottom-floor lever traps and can cast Disintegrate after a failed Arcana attempt.
---
Fixed or especially notable rewards
The top and middle floors also contain random potions, gems, valuables, alchemical ingredients, arrows and spell scrolls. These should not be presented as guaranteed named rewards.
Fixed or especially notable rewards
| Item | Location | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Markoheshkir | Bottom floor | Legendary staff behind an arcane barrier |
| Robe of the Weave | Bottom floor | Powerful caster robe behind an arcane barrier |
| High Security Vault nº1 Key | Bottom floor | Opens storage connected with the Counting House |
| Sorcerous Sundries Mystery Door Key | Bottom floor | Opens the Ramazith door in the Sorcerous Vault |
| Scroll of Circle of Death | Bottom floor | In an unlocked display case |
| Potion of Supreme Healing | Top floor | Fixed display-case item |
| Snakeskin Hat | Middle-floor outer ring | Fixed ground item |
| Elixir of See Invisibility | Middle-floor outer ring | Useful if the party lacks See Invisibility |
| Gold Ingot | Bottom floor | Found near the Mystery Door Key |
| Jhannyl’s Gloves | Conditional | May be looted from Isobel’s corpse |
| Moon Devotion Robe | Conditional | May be looted from Isobel’s corpse |
Books and documents
These documents provide atmosphere, warnings and background on Lorroakan’s work. The BE WARNED document is particularly relevant to the tower’s magical buttons.
---
The Sorcerous Vault is best treated as a connected annex rather than a fourth tower floor.
From the tower, the party can press the Vault button on the middle floor. Only the interacting party member is teleported. The party cannot teleport back to the tower from the vault’s northern starting room, so this route should be used when the party is ready to complete the vault exploration or leave through the shop.
The vault’s traps include marble plates, gas pits and gargoyle heads. See Invisibility is again useful. The vault also contains important material for Gale’s personal quest and the Annals of Karsus storyline.
---
Safe first visit
- 01Enter Sorcerous Sundries and speak with the available shopkeeper.
- 02Visit Tolna Tome-Monger if you want to buy rare scrolls or learn about the vault’s books.

Ramazith’s Tower is named for Ramazith Flamesinger, a wizard from the wider Forgotten Realms setting. In Baldur’s Gate 3, the character is primarily a historical presence. The tower and associated shop are instead dominated by Lorroakan’s ownership and ambitions.
A book found in Sorcerous Sundries gives a vague account of Ramazith’s disappearance and hints at the earlier The Captive Nymph quest from the original Baldur’s Gate. This connects the location to older material while keeping the Act Three tower focused on Lorroakan and the Nightsong.
The tower is also one of the city’s most recognisable silhouettes. Although the player reaches it through a magical portal, it is presented as a distinct spire above the Upper City and can be seen from many parts of Baldur’s Gate.

Before leaving the tower, check that you have:
---
Story-focused route: steps
- 01Bring Dame Aylin to the tower’s conclusion if you intend to oppose Lorroakan.
- 02Consider completing shopping and vault exploration before the confrontation.
- 03Speak with Lorroakan and inspect his plan.
- 04Return to camp if needed to inform Aylin.
- 05Resolve the battle.
- 06Check whether Rolan survives and whether he takes ownership.
- 07Revisit the tower after a long rest to see state-dependent changes.
Is Ramazith’s Tower the same place as Sorcerous Sundries?
No. Sorcerous Sundries is a Lower City shop. Ramazith’s Tower is a separate location associated with the Upper City and reached through a portal in the shop. The Sorcerous Vault is a third connected location.
How do I reach the tower?
Use the pale blue portal on the first floor of Sorcerous Sundries. The other portals are decoys.
Can I walk to the tower from the Upper City?
The game does not provide an ordinary street entrance. The accessible route is the portal from Sorcerous Sundries.
How do I reach the bottom floor?
Press the Below Weave Button on the middle floor. You cannot simply jump down because of an invisible barrier.
How do I disable the barriers around Markoheshkir and the Robe of the Weave?
Reveal the invisible levers with See Invisibility and pass the DC 20 Arcana checks. Use different characters if an attempt fails.
Can I return from the Sorcerous Vault to the tower?
Not from the tower-side entrance. The Vault button teleports the interacting character to the vault’s northern room, which has no route back to the tower. Plan to leave through Sorcerous Sundries.
What happens if I kill Lorroakan?
The outcome depends on your wider Nightsong and Rolan choices. If Rolan survives and the party sides with Dame Aylin, he can take over the tower and allow the party to loot it.
Is the loot in every container fixed?
No. Several containers contain random potions, gems, valuables, ingredients, arrows or spell scrolls. The major artefacts and several named keys and documents are fixed or conditionally placed.
