About this guide
Base game, Act Three. Spoilers for Sharess’ Caress, the drow twins and the “Find the ‘Stern Librarian’ Ffion” quest.
Overview
Underdark Pleasures is a small private parlour inside Sharess’ Caress, the pleasure house at Wyrm’s Crossing in Baldur’s Gate 3. Despite its name, it is not part of the Act One Underdark region. It is an Act Three location themed around the Underdark, used by the drow twins Nym Orlith and Sorn Orlith.
The room is deliberately designed as a theatrical fantasy of the Underdark rather than as a genuine subterranean settlement. Giant mushrooms, glowing bulbs, shabby furnishings and a young sussur tree create a set-piece combining Underdark imagery with elements associated with the hag’s Gnarled Teahouse. The room contains little practical loot, but it is important for one of Sharess’ Caress’ optional encounters, several background inspirations and companion-specific dialogue.
Boundaries and hierarchy
Underdark Pleasures is a room-sized child location, not a district or separate map region. Its hierarchy is:
The parlour is the furthest of the private rooms reached from the upper-floor walkway. Although it occupies the second floor of the building’s western portion, the game treats it as part of Sharess’ Caress’ upper floor. The other themed rooms in the same building are Nymph’s Grotto, Elminster’s Library and Devil’s Den. These are neighbouring child areas, not subdivisions of Underdark Pleasures.
The room should also be kept separate from the Act One Underdark, which contains locations such as the Myconid Colony, Grymforge, the Arcane Tower and the Selûnite Outpost. No route through the actual Underdark is required to reach this parlour.

Appearance and atmosphere
Underdark Pleasures is a decorative stage set built around surface ideas of drow life. The room includes:
The sussur tree is only scenery here. It does not produce the magic-suppressing effect associated with real sussur plants in the Act One Underdark. The room therefore has visual rather than mechanical links to the earlier region.
Decorative or thematic features
There is no evidence that the decorative mushrooms function as harvestable Underdark resource nodes, and the sussur tree should not be treated as a usable antimagic plant.

Access and routes
Standard route
The room is normally locked because the twins usually wait for customers in the music hall rather than standing inside the parlour. When an encounter is arranged, they provide the intended route and open the door themselves.
Alternative routes
If the twins are unavailable, the door can be opened by:
The key can be obtained from Mamzell Amira, including through the Find the ‘Stern Librarian’ Ffion quest, or found on a shelf in Nymph’s Grotto. It is also carried by Nym and Sorn. The key opens rooms throughout Sharess’ Caress rather than only Underdark Pleasures.
Practical route
Do not assume that entering Underdark Pleasures advances the Act One Underdark storyline. The two locations are connected only by theme and by the twins’ personal history.
Standard route
- 01Travel to Sharess’ Caress in Wyrm’s Crossing.
- 02Speak with Nym Orlith and/or Sorn Orlith in the music hall on the ground floor.
- 03Arrange an encounter with one twin or both.
- 04Follow them to the upper floor.
- 05They open the private room and lead the party inside.
Practical route: The simplest exploration order is
- 01Speak with Mamzell Amira at the entrance.
- 02Check the ground-floor music hall for Nym and Sorn.
- 03Decide whether to arrange their encounter.
- 04Follow them upstairs.
- 05Search the wardrobe before leaving.
- 06Visit the other upper-floor rooms separately if you are investigating Sharess’ Caress as a whole.
Residents and characters
Nym Orlith
Nym Orlith is a Seldarine drow and one of the twin courtesans working at Sharess’ Caress. She is associated with the private room and may participate in an encounter with the player character, with another companion, or with Sorn. Nym is listed as a wizard in the game’s character data and carries a key to the private rooms.
Sorn Orlith
Sorn Orlith is Nym’s twin brother and fellow courtesan. He shares the room’s backstory and services. His personal history gives the location much of its context: the twins left the Underdark because of the treatment of men under its matriarchal social structures, eventually finding work in Baldur’s Gate.
Characters associated with the wider building, not residents of this room
These characters belong to Sharess’ Caress or its surrounding activity but should not be treated as residents of Underdark Pleasures:
Sharess’ Caress also contains various patrons and visitors, including Raphael, Kith’rak Voss and Valeria, but their presence belongs to the wider building’s scenes rather than to Underdark Pleasures itself.
Activities and encounter outcomes
Speaking to the twins inside the parlour after arranging their services begins a largely narrated, black-screen cutscene. The game describes the event as lasting through the night, but it does not trigger a Long Rest and does not advance the journal by a calendar day. After the scene, the participants remain in the room in their underwear.
The available dialogue and companion reactions vary according to the party. In particular, Astarion has special dialogue concerning the twins’ work and their experiences of being used by others. Certain companion and romance states can also alter who is willing to participate. These variations are progression-dependent and should not be treated as a universal single outcome.
Background inspiration
The inspirations are tied to the activity rather than to simply opening the room or speaking with the twins.
Items and collectibles
Underdark Pleasures is not a loot-rich area. Its verified fixed contents are:
A Rogue’s Morsel is an alchemical ingredient. Three can be processed into Salts of Rogue’s Morsel, which can then contribute to the creation of a Potion of Healing when combined with a suitable suspension. The mushroom itself is not unique to this room and can be found or purchased elsewhere.
Verified item directory
There is no verified unique weapon, armour piece, spell scroll, permanent buff or hidden treasure cache exclusive to Underdark Pleasures.
Items and collectibles
| Item | Location | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Rogue’s Morsel | Wardrobe | Alchemical ingredient |
| Bottle of wine | In the room | Consumable, with no unique location reward established |
| Sharess’ Caress Rooms Key | Held by associated characters or found elsewhere in Sharess’ Caress | Opens private rooms |
Hazards, secrets and missable content
The room has no intended trap sequence, boss encounter or security system beyond its locked door. Its main missable content is conversational:
The room’s decorative sussur tree is not a secret resource and does not suppress magic. This is an important distinction from actual sussur plants in the Act One Underdark.
